In the midst of hustle culture and the glorification of “the grind,” Timebox is proposed as a vessel to slow down the pace of our lives by encouraging students to take a moment to reflect on their stressors, priorities, and well-being. Students are often consumed by the need to be constantly productive, often at the expense of their health and other priorities. This widespread workaholism dominates Cornell’s campus.

Our exhibition relieves those stressful mindsets through an experiential reflection and writing space, culminating in a mailbox to the future. Timebox provides the space, materials, and opportunity for students to write to their future self, or leave a note to a stranger. We hope to facilitate a dialogue between students and the larger community about mental and emotional well-being, self care, and the value of relaxation and introspection.
